Since the age of fifteen,
Andrew Carney has been playing trumpet and flugelhorn
professionally. Andrew has had the honor of working with such
artists as Michael Jackson, Michael Bolton, Dionne Warwick, Whitney
Houston, Wayne Henderson, Bobby Lyle, Chaka Khan, Brenda Russell,
the Clayton Hamilton Jazz Orchestra and Randi Crawford.
Performing in the El Centro Jazz Festival in Torino, Italy proved
to be one of the most inspirational events in 2004. The Long Beach
Jazz, L.A. Classic Jazz, Orange County Art and Jazz, La Quinta Art &
Jazz, Sawdust and Art-a-Fair are among the festivals in the Southern
California area where you may recognize Andrew from one of his
performances. He also can frequently be seen at festivals in
Jacksonville, Florida, Sacramento, California, Coos Bay, Oregon and
Sun Valley, Idaho.
Andrew is often heard in many of the leading restaurants and clubs
throughout the Los Angeles and Orange County areas. You may have
unknowingly heard him playing in the television commercial for
Pechanga Casino, NutriSystem, Los Angeles Times, AMPM Stores or
perhaps even an episode or two of the Saturday morning cartoon,
Spiderman. It’s also possible that you may have seen Andrew in
movies such as Starsky and Hutch, Why Do Fools Fall In
Love, Dorothy Day or the television shows The King of
Queens, Extra and Second Time Around. He is
featured as a soloist on the soundtrack to Arlen Faber, an
upcoming motion picture starring Jeff Daniels.
With a Bachelor of Arts in Music from California State University,
Los Angeles, Andrew has applied his knowledge and training to
individual private instruction. His students benefit from his many
years of performance experience and are taught the importance of the
application of music theory.
Composer, songwriter, arranger,
educator and performer, Andrew Carney covers a broad range of music
styles. He has recorded with such artists as Billy Mitchell, John
Bolivar, Yve Evans, Tommy Walker, Justo Almario and Larry Carlton.
His debut CD entitled, Home Again is now accompanied by his
latest release, Playtime. Andrew is joined on this project
by tenor saxophone great, Justo Almario, drummer Land Richards and
bassist Alex Al, among many others.
