Avery Burdette was born in Guntersville, Alabama and
began playing the foot pedals of his mother’s organ at the age of 4. After
abandoning the trombone for rock keyboard in the late '60s, he eventually moved
to Boston to study music composition at the Berklee School of Music. He has been
playing acoustic piano, organ and keyboards ever since. Back in Alabama, he
formed the Burdette Quartette and gained local notoriety as a jazz player. Avery
later moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he played honky-tonk, blues, country
and rock ‘n' roll, both as a studio musician and on the road as a sideman for
many incredible headline artists.
