Ballet Folklorico Ollin is a unique group founded in 1972 with the
primary goal of preserving the folk culture of
Mexico
through research, education, and presentation of Mexican folk dance and
music.
Ballet
Folklorico Ollin continues its commitment to professionalism and
community involvement, to high quality entertainment with wide audience
appeal, and to reach with impact into all levels of the artistic
community. Our curriculum of
instruction develops an awareness of
Mexico
’s diverse culture through music and dance emphasizing the art of
performance. In conjunction
with theatrical experience, careful research results in the design and
manufacture of costumes with particular attention to authenticity.
Through a variety of documentation, the Ballet guarantees the
valuable preservation of
Mexico
’s history for further generations.

Notable
credits of the company include continued performances at various state
and county fairs, the 91st. Annual Tournament of Roses Parade, the
Democratic National Convention in
Los Angeles
, and featured artists at the Nosotros Golden Eagle Awards, 2000.
A rewarding highlight of the company’s history was
participation in the Hispanic Dance Festival, held as part of the 1984
Olympic Arts Festival in
Los Angeles
. Spring of both 1989 and
1992 saw Ollin touring
Mexico
to enthusiastic acclaim that culminated with the honor of performing as
the opening cultural act for the prestigious Feria Nacional de
San Marcos
in
Aguascalientes
,
Ags.
,
Mexico
. The Company received
special recognition for their participation and support of the Arte de
Mexico Festival at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
