A holiday
musical extravaganza! This long-standing tradition began twenty-one years ago at
the famed Newport Beach nightspot, The Blue Beet Café. It then moved to Fashion
Island's Four Seasons Hotel in the mid-nineties, then on to the popular Orange
County eatery, Jack Shrimp, playing to sold out houses every year since its
inception. 2007 saw a return to the Blue Beet and perhaps the biggest turnout
ever of guest artists and fantastic performers.
The event is hosted by Southern
California's own Mark Wood and The Mark Wood Band will cover the
rhythm section duties for the evening's featured performers. The show
boasts a yearly lineup of some of Southern California’s favorite and
most talented entertainers performing all of your Holiday favorites in
a variety of musical styles, all with a down-home family feel. Songs
like Nat King Cole's, "The Christmas Song" (Chestnuts Roasting on an
Open Fire), Bing Crosby's "White Christmas" and holiday standards such
as I'll be Home for Christmas, Winter Wonderland, Jingle Bells and
Frosty the Snowman. There is even a Ventures styled Surf Guitar
performance of Sleigh Ride and Chuck Berry's Run Run Rudolf. The
evening's finale finds all of the performers on stage leading the
crowd in a wonderful version of “Silent Night and Away in the manger”.
This show is a wonderful trip down memory lane and reminiscent of the
old Holiday TV specials that we all remember!
Pre-show
entertainment is performed by the Mark Wood Band and the full band and
all of the guest stars will take the stage after the show to play an
incredible array of dance music to take the evening to an incredible
holiday finish!
